Irresponsibles Biography

The Irresponsibles are a Boston based, hook-laden, power-pop band, with an updated sound of their own. Their live performances are an eye, ear catching spectacle featuring a full string quartet.

The Band consists of:

Peter Montgomery, lead vocalist, guitarist and composer. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Peter is a self taught musician with a unique style of his own. Over time he has mastered both guitar, vocal dynamics and song composition. In the late eighties, while in his teens Peter formed the Irresponsibles. The Beatles inspired his musical influences.

Andrew Kuhn is the Irresponsibles newest addition. Andrew likewise is a lead vocalist and guitarist. Andrew was raised in Cohasset and Norwell, Massachusetts. His performing career includes both music and theater productions such as his portrayal in Chas Dickens lead role of Oliver with Grammy nominee Susan Tedeschi. Andrew’s musical influences include AC/DC, Black Sabbath early Kravitz, Robert Plant and most importantly John Bonham.

Dan Rudack, percussionist and composer for the Irresponsibles grew up in a blue collar, hard working family. Dan at an early age of six got hooked on Kiss and the Rolling Stones; on his 11th birthday his parents gave him money to buy a bicycle. On his way to purchase the bike he heard one of his neighbors was selling a drum set, you can just imagine the horror on Dan’s parent’s faces when he came back with a pile of drums in his arms. After years of study in percussion a musician friend of Dan’s brought him an audiotape featuring Peter Montgomery as lead vocalists. Dan was deeply impressed with Peter’s vocal dynamics, later Dan was introduced personally to Peter the rest is history, ten years, 4 albums, 2 tours and countless of concerts later the Irresponsibles are better than ever.

Mark Nigro, bassist for the irresponsibles musical seeds were planted attending grammar school while in second grade, where every student usually received a wind instrument called a recorder. The next year Mark had a chance to play a string instrument, he selected the cello which was later traded for trumpet he felt the trumpet was more glamorous than a cello. Later in grammar school he studied baritone horn. In high school Mark became a member of the school orchestra and jazz band. He became consumed with music and added the electric bass to his collection of musical instruments. After high school Mark attended Berklee College of Music while attending he performed in a jazz quartet. He later entered the world of Rock & Roll and answered a newspaper with an ad “bass player wanted” This ad introduced him to Peter and Dan a week later Mark was an Irresponsible. His musical influences include Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and the R&B sounds of Motown. Mark also recorded with Jonathin Richmond.

The Irresponsibles have been featured in Billboard, Musician Magazine, and all of the Boston Fanzines. Shortly after winning Musician Magazine’s Best Unsigned Band in the Country competition, The Magazine contacted the band relating that one of their judges, guitarist/producer Adrian Belew;
Belew former guitarist for Frank Zappa later did a world tour for David Bowie as lead guitarist. In 1994 Adrian recorded on Nine Inch Nails “Downward Spiral” CD. Adrian later collaborated with the Irresponsibles which came to fruition with Adrian Belew as recording producer for the Irresponsibles, in the form of a six-song CD entitled, “Backwards Boy”. The EP was recorded at Adrian’s studio in Nashville and was released on his Adrian Belew Present’s label. Adrian also Produced “When Pigs Fly” for the Irresponsibles. Upon release the band toured with Adrian Belew, playing 32 states in 2 months time, which built the Irresponsibles a national fan base; while on tour the Irresponsibles shared the stage with Emmy Lou Harris in a sold out performance at the Roxy in Los Angeles.
